Year 6 To 7 Transition

We want our students to feel ready, prepared, and confident to join Year 7 at Christ's College. We have strong partnerships with our local primary schools, to ensure curriculum and pastoral continuity.
We have a dedicated transition team lead by an Assistant Principal including the Progress Leader for Year 7 and SENDCo. We work together with our local primary schools to ensure a smooth transition for students from Primary to Secondary School.
During the summer term, we have detailed conversations with all Year 6 teachers from our new cohort alongside visiting our new students in their primary schools. This is the beginning of our transition process and enables our new cohort to start to belong to our Christ's College community.
At the beginning of July, all Year 6 students are invited to an Induction Day. They will meet our key staff and their new peers and begin to settle in to our routines of learning and high expectations.
For parents, we hold an Information Evening on the same day as the main Induction Day for students. This starts an important relationship between the school and home. Students are encouraged to attend with their families, and there is an opportunity to take part in a more informal question and answer session.
For students who may be more anxious about the move to secondary school, we run further opportunities, such as SEND sessions, or bespoke school tours with a senior leader, to help them settle and feel more confident.

The transition team, will be in contact with all the primary schools who have students making the transition to CCG. They will either visit schools and introduce themselves to your child in person at their school, or where only a few students will be transferring we will invite them for an afternoon workshop on site. |
