Chromebook For Learning
We are a Google school. This means we use Google Classroom and the Google apps as our main curriculum platform. All current students are now learning with Chromebooks in the classroom and at home. Chromebooks are an educational tool to enhance learning, however the art of hand writing will not be lost: students have exercise books in class to complete the majority of their work.
To ensure all students have access to this technology, we have a Chromebook for Learning Scheme. This enables parents/carers to purchase an affordable high-quality device for their child to use, spreading payments if necessary.
Key Dates
There are currently no Chromebook purchase schemes planned. This page will be updated when one opens. If you would be interested in a purchase scheme opening, please email chromebooks@christscollege.surrey.sch.uk.
Private Purchasing of a Chromebook
You may decide that you wish to purchase your child’s Chromebook privately. Privately owned Chromebooks are enrolled onto our management system at the start of the academic year. The Chromebook will subsequently only work via your child’s school login. At home, school management restrictions do not apply and students can browse freely. It is not possible to install private apps on a school managed Chromebook, however students can still access sites through the Chrome browser.
We wish for every student to be advantaged with access to technology: if your child receives pupil premium funding and you would like financial support, please contact us via chromebooks@christscollege.surrey.sch.uk.
If you have any questions relating to this Chromebook scheme. Please email chromebooks@christscollege.surrey.sch.uk.
