Student Welfare
We are very proud of our pastoral system and the fact that students can access a whole team of support every day should they need it through; tutor time programmes, year group assemblies, external counsellor and mentors, internal safeguarding staff, the youth worker team, Chaplain as well as our on-site mental health first aiders. The well-being of all our students is paramount, and in college we work hard to develop student’s self-esteem, well-being and resilience, so that they can make friends and make a positive contribution to our whole community.
Students join mixed tutor groups in Year 7. The primary role of the Tutor is to be the first point of contact for student’s welfare and general progress and to help them build positive relationships. Progress Leaders are responsible for the overall progress and welfare of each child in their year group.
The Chaplaincy team has a significant impact on the Christian ethos and pastoral care of the college community. Our students have an opportunity to engage with the Christian faith in our acts of worship, in tutor times, in our prayer weeks and through our partnership with local churches. The team provide support offering a safe space and a listening ear for students.
"There is a strong Christian ethos throughout the school, with good pastoral care and the smaller size creates a real sense of community - no one gets lost in the crowd." PARENT
